Pima approves IGA with DPS for new radio trunking; police budget to increase by $2,000

The Pima Town Council unanimously approved an intergovernmental agreement with DPS and adopted Resolution 2026-01 on April 14 to participate in the county’s transition to a new DPS trunking radio system.
Police Chief Diane Cauthen told the council that the new trunking system will allow radios to communicate beyond current jurisdictional limits. Chief Cauthen said the agreement will increase the Police Department’s budget by $2,000 to cover subscription and radio costs.
Vice Mayor Teresa Bailey moved to approve the IGA and the attached resolution; Mayor Brian Paull seconded and the motion carried unanimously. The minutes record no abstentions or dissent among members present.
Implementation: the police department will allocate the additional $2,000 in the coming fiscal period. The council did not record alternative funding sources during the meeting.
