Fairfield Community Schools board approves personnel moves and adopts NEOLA policy update

President Marilee Keim called the Fairfield Community Schools board meeting to order at 9:00 a.m. May 19. Board members Brian Wogoman and Patrick McCauley were present; Tyler Rensberger and Aaron Rink were absent.
The board amended the agenda to include late-arriving consent items after a motion by Brian Wogoman and a second from Patrick McCauley. The amendment passed unanimously.
Under the consent agenda the board approved a package of personnel actions. The items reported no retirements; resignations by Levi Neuzerling — from the Fairfield Jr.-Sr. High School varsity head boys cross country coach position and an assistant track coaching role — and by Eugene Willard — from his Fairfield Jr.-Sr. High School science teacher post and related extracurricular positions (varsity head wrestling coach and freshman class sponsor). The board also approved nine transfers among elementary-grade teaching assignments across Benton, Millersburg and New Paris schools (including moves such as Brodie Garber to varsity head girls basketball coach and several grade-level teacher reassignments) and one volunteer employment, Kaylene Garber as a volunteer volleyball coach. Patrick McCauley moved to approve the consent items; Brian Wogoman seconded, and the motion passed unanimously.
On action items Superintendent Dr. Carrie Cannon requested approval of the second reading of updates to NEOLA Board Policy 6610. Board member Brian Wogoman moved the approval; Patrick McCauley seconded. The board approved the second reading unanimously.
Dr. Cannon also presented the first reading of proposed NEOLA Board Policy 5136 for future consideration; the board took no action on that first reading at this meeting. There were no public comments.
Dr. Cannon closed by thanking staff who are being reassigned for their flexibility amid enrollment-driven changes. The board adjourned at 9:07 a.m.
