Pima council hears updates on pool resurfacing, school sewer, vandalism and police equipment

At its Feb. 10 meeting, the Pima Town Council received operational updates from town staff on several infrastructure and public-safety topics.
Town Manager Vernon Batty said pool deck resurfacing is underway and is expected to be finished after new shade structures are installed and before the summer swim season. Batty also reported the school sewer project is roughly two weeks from completion once an ordered lift station arrives; he said a new flow meter has been ordered to provide more accurate flow measurements and the lift station is expected in mid-March.
Public Works Director Evan Stringfellow told the council that the department conducted a sewer inspection that led to the recommendation to order a new flow meter and reported recent vandalism in park restrooms; he said his department is coordinating with police on the vandalism issue. Police Chief Diane Cauthen reported that the department received new laptops for officers.
These items were presented as updates; no formal votes or appropriations were taken on the infrastructure items at the Feb. 10 meeting. Councilmembers praised recent pothole repair and crack sealing work completed by Public Works.
