Houston historic commission adopts consent slate of certificates of appropriateness

The Houston Archaeological and Historical Commission approved multiple certificates of appropriateness under a single consent motion during its Jan. 16 meeting, Chair David Butchak said. Staff recommended grouping the consent items and carrying out one vote to accept staff recommendations.
The projects approved on consent included alterations and new-construction applications in several historic districts, and staff noted one application (A4, demolition in Norhill) would be considered separately. Grama McAllen, manager of the city’s historic division, told the commission staff recommended approval for the consent items as listed in the published agenda.
The chair called the vote after a member moved and another seconded; the motion passed with commissioners voting in favor. The chair then announced that the projects on the consent slate had passed the commission.
The commission proceeded to hear individual items pulled from consent and other agenda items later in the meeting.
