Select Board accepts PRB Construction recommendation for wastewater upgrade

The Henniker Board of Selectmen voted to accept staff's recommendation to award the construction‑phase contract for the town's wastewater treatment facility upgrade to PRB Construction for $2,167,200 and authorized the town administrator to execute contracts and supporting documentation for submission to the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services.

Town Administrator Diane summarized that bids came in higher than the amount approved at the 2022 town meeting and that staff and engineers prioritized scope items so the project could stay within the authorized construction budget, moving some elements to supplemental work funded from the wastewater fund balance or a later appropriation. "We met with Underwood and the apparent low bidder and discussed the scope; the next step is to accept the recommendation to award PRB Construction," Diane said.

Board members discussed timing and the need to proceed before bids expired. Neil moved the motion to accept the recommendation and authorize execution; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote (recorded as 4‑0). The vote authorizes the town administrator to move forward with DES approval and contract execution; the board noted that actual spending follows existing town meeting appropriations and that some omitted scope items may be funded later.

Procedural next steps: staff will forward the award recommendation to DES for approval and return to the board with contract documents and any required supplemental funding requests.
