Lake Park awards $26,670 contract for Gordon Street water-line repair

The Lake Park City Council on Nov. 5 awarded a contract to RPI Underground, Inc. to complete a water-line repair on Gordon Street at a cost of $26,670.
City staff reported that a water line scheduled for a shoulder tap was found under the road; two bids were submitted. Killeen Construction bid $28,500 and RPI Underground bid $26,670. City Clerk Lisa Johnson said scheduling differences could affect the builder; she also reported Maintenance Supervisor Billy Jones and Killeen had discussed whether city crews could dig the trench to reduce cost. Council discussed timing, potential rain delays and the builder’s daily costs, then voted to accept RPI Underground’s lower bid.
Council Member Michelle Lane moved to award the contract to RPI Underground; Council Member Carl Spano seconded. The motion passed unanimously, 4-0. Council noted the builder was losing time on the project and instructed staff to proceed.
