CPC opens fifth funding cycle; 22 proposals totaling about $6 million reported, five applicants presented

The Community Preservation Committee opened its fifth cycle of funding at the June 8 meeting and heard a summary of proposals and applicant presentations. Chair Tom Callahan said the May 26 eligibility deadline produced 22 proposals totaling approximately $6 million in funding requests.
Five applicants presented project proposals and responded to committee questions: Hayley Byron and Marieke Goldman‑Silva presented a Tucker School Playground project and requested review at the fall Town Meeting; Earl Fay represented the Milton Housing Authority on a revitalization proposal for 65 Miller Ave.; Lisa Ahern presented a stabilization project for the Milton Cemetery’s 1879 receiving tomb; Ed Thomas outlined an independent feasibility study for a potential playground on Randolph Avenue (south); and Gwen Labbe presented the Milton Historical Society’s Suffolk Resolves House window restoration project. Committee members followed each presentation with questions about scope, timing and eligibility.
Callahan said the committee will continue applicant hearings at upcoming meetings on June 22, July 6 and July 20. Applicants and staff will provide additional materials as requested for eligibility and funding decisions ahead of the fall Town Meeting.
