Milton officials report Town Meeting approved $1.19M CPC appropriation and $750,000 Wharf Park bond

Chair Thomas Callahan told the Community Preservation Committee on June 8 that Milton’s recent Town Meeting approved three warrant articles affecting CPC resources, including a $1,186,550 appropriation for fiscal 2027, approval of 11 projects totaling $1,051,823, and a $750,000 Community Preservation Act bond to renovate Wharf Park. Callahan said the first two articles passed "almost unanimously" and that the bond required further description before it passed the two‑thirds vote threshold required for debt authorization.

The approval is expected to fund the committee’s FY2027 activities and specific projects the committee recommended to Town Meeting. Callahan did not provide a breakdown tying particular approved projects to individual line items in the appropriation at the meeting; committee members asked questions about next steps for project administration and timing.

Separately, the committee approved its April 6, 2026 meeting minutes on a motion by Wendy Garpow, seconded by Jenny Russell; the record notes abstentions "due to absences" by Robert Jackson, Robert Levash, Kathleen O’Donnell and Hal Mungar. The minutes approval and the Chair’s report conclude the committee’s formal actions on Town Meeting outcomes during this session.

The committee will follow up on project implementation and scheduling as staff and applicants prepare for fall actions and reporting requirements. Chair Callahan said he will confirm warrant article deadlines for the fall Town Meeting and report back to the CPC.
