Poseyville considers ADA transition plan and advances sewer permits and school-area project

At the April 14 Poseyville Town Council meeting, Clerk-Treasurer Jodie Rankin told councilors that completing a formal ADA Transition Plan is a prerequisite for future Community Crossings Grant applications.
A representative of CHA proposed developing the plan and providing ESRI-based mapping of ADA infrastructure; CHA’s preliminary estimate for the combined services was about $20,000, though Town Attorney William Bender said he may know a lower-cost option. Utility Superintendent Jeremy Farrar emphasized the town has been addressing ADA features during road work but said a comprehensive plan and data collection are required to meet grant rules.
Farrar also reported that the town received a five-year renewal permit for the Wastewater Treatment Plant from the Indiana Department of Environmental Management and that recent wellhead testing detected no issues. He said the Posey County Regional Sewer District’s high-school sewer project is ready to be advertised for bids, but the final funding package depends on Indiana Finance Authority options and bid results.
Councilors asked CHA to present a more detailed scope and cost estimate at the May meeting so they could consider breaking the work into phases or identifying lower-cost approaches. No commitment to contract for the ADA plan was made at the April meeting.
