Poseyville council approves advertising bids for wastewater-plant upgrades tied to North Posey High School

The Poseyville Town Council on May 12 approved a motion to advertise for bids on upgrades to the town’s wastewater treatment plant, a project tied to work at North Posey High School. The council voted unanimously to advertise the project, with bid opening scheduled for the June 9, 2026 meeting.

CHA Consulting representative Derick Wiggins told the council the base scope calls for replacement of electrical components, replacement of level diffusers, tank cleanout and rehabilitation, and screen rehabilitation. Wiggins said the bid package will also include alternate bids for flood storage and drying equipment, replacement of the main lift-station electrical panel, and replacement of the return-sludge control panel.

"Approval to advertise for bids is not binding," Wiggins told the council, adding that the town reserves the right to reject any or all bids. Jeremy Farrar explained the town intends to receive bids first and then determine a potential funding package through the Indiana Finance Authority, rather than securing financing before soliciting bids.

Council Member Randy Rankin moved to approve advertising for bids; Mike Baehl seconded. Roll call votes recorded both members voting yes.

The council heard that no major upgrades have been completed at the wastewater plant in more than 20 years. The outcome of the bidding process and the town’s funding decisions will be reported back to the council after bids are opened and any financing options are explored.

The council will receive the bid results at its June 9 meeting; no contract award or funding commitment was made at the May 12 meeting.
