Lake Park — At its Oct. 1 meeting, the Lake Park City Council unanimously accepted a $39,000 bid to complete a state-required lead service-line inventory and voted to pay the cost from SPLOST funds designated for water.
City Clerk Lisa Johnson told the council the work is required by the Georgia Environmental Protection Division and that the city received one bid: $130 per service connection, totaling $39,000. Johnson said the project would be partially funded by a $17,000 GEFA grant; that leaves an expected local match of about $23,000.
Council Member Carl Spano moved to accept the bid and to pay for the lead service-line inventory from SPLOST - Water; Council Member Michelle Lane seconded both motions. Each motion carried 4-0.
Later in the meeting the council entered executive session to review prior executive-session minutes and discuss a personnel matter. The council reconvened and approved several follow-ups: research the cost of a radio for the Chaplain (to be paid from SPLOST), approve the prior executive-session minutes, and hire Vicki Jack for an open part-time administration position at $15.50 per hour (unless an alternate rate had been stated earlier). The council adjourned and set its next regular meeting for Nov. 5, 2024 at 6:00 p.m.
