The Gillsville Town Council voted on Oct. 20 to install a replacement granite piece for the Veterans Memorial near the downtown flag and agreed to purchase three artificial wreaths from local florist Megan Corn for holiday placement.
Mayor Wade Dale told the council the replacement granite has not yet arrived and that electricity must be run to the memorial. He said the previously supplied piece was too small; the council agreed that smaller piece will be placed downtown. Council Member Todd Dale moved to install the new granite near the downtown flag; Council Member Keith Segars seconded the motion and the council voted in favor.
Mayor Dale also mentioned he would like florist Megan Corn to place flowers at the memorial on holidays, and the council decided to purchase three artificial wreaths from Megan Corn for that purpose. The transcript does not list a purchase price or procurement procedure for the wreaths.
The council adjourned at 8:00 p.m. after a motion to adjourn by Council Member Keith Segars, seconded by Council Member Jeff Perry; all council members present voted to adjourn.
