On July 7, 2025, the Gillsville Town Council voted unanimously to adopt a resolution rolling the town's tax rate back to 0. Council Member Ricky Sutton moved for passage and Council Member Jeff Perry seconded; "all council members present voted in favor," the minutes record.
The vote followed some discussion of the resolution but the transcript does not record further details of the debate. Earlier in the meeting, the council also approved the minutes of the June 9, 2025 meeting on a motion by Ricky Sutton, seconded by Jeff Perry; the minutes vote was unanimous.
Council Member Ricky Sutton proposed scheduling a future work session to review a new building ordinance that attorney David Syfan is compiling; the council agreed that a date will be set at a later time (date not specified in the record). Mayor Wade Dale updated the council on the Veterans Memorial project, saying he is seeking a contractor or individual to lay blocks and bricks and asked council members for suggestions.
The meeting, held at the Frankum Building, was called to order at 7:00 p.m. and was adjourned at 7:35 p.m. after a motion by Jeff Perry, seconded by Todd Dale, which passed unanimously.
