Statham City Council approves 2025 calendar, fee increases and DOT property donations; denies gaming license for Artisan’s Cove

STATHAM, Ga. — The Statham City Council on Nov. 19 approved a series of administrative measures including next year’s meeting calendar, fee schedule changes and several property-donation authorizations tied to the Georgia Department of Transportation’s SR 211 interchange project.
Councilmember Patterson moved to approve a business license for Artisan’s Cove, LLC and to deny a gaming license for the same applicant; Councilmember Burnette seconded and the motion passed 5-0. The council separately approved the City of Statham 2025 meeting calendar by unanimous vote.
The council altered the city’s 2025 holiday schedule to include Juneteenth after Councilmember Terilli moved the change and Councilmember Penn seconded; that motion passed 4-1, with Councilmember Burnette casting the sole dissenting vote.
Councilmembers approved an ordinance amending Table 2-1 of the Statham Unified Development Code and moved a package of fee changes. The regulatory fee schedule was amended to split game-room and pool-hall fees into Class A (non-rewarding) and Class B (rewarding) categories, and to raise tobacco-retailer fees from $400 to $500 per year. Councilmember Patterson later moved and the council approved placing the occupational license fee for employers with 51 or more employees at $1,500. The council also approved several alcohol-license fee adjustments, including raising on-premises consumption and retail-package fees to $750 and establishing a $500 tasting-room class; all fee-related measures passed on recorded 5-0 votes.
On transportation-related items, Councilmember Penn moved and the council authorized the mayor to execute documents for the proposed donation of McCarty Road limited access associated with the Department of Transportation’s 316/SR 211 interchange project. The council also approved two additional DOT parcel donations (ST02 011A and ST06 003); each authorization passed unanimously.
