Whigham mayor signs reappointments to regional commission; WVCC readies Christmas event

The Whigham City Council on Dec. 9 approved reappointments of the city's representatives to the regional commission and heard a community report on an upcoming holiday event.
Mayor Trey Gainous read a notice from the Regional Commission identifying Jim Sellers as the elected-official representative and Joe Walden as the non-public representative for Grady County and the City of Whigham. Both were reported willing to continue; with no objections from the council, Gainous signed the reappointment letter.
In reports, Jane Trulock said the 'Christmas in Whigham' event is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 13, and that about 50 vendors had signed up. She said the band will play in the vacant lot next to Bloom Nutrition, Santa will be in the alley, and Rachel at Cellar Door will debut a new art gallery that day.
The minutes record no contested discussion or additional motions on the reappointments. The council adjourned at 6:08 p.m.
