White City council places two Sunday alcohol-sales questions on the ballot

WHITE CITY — The White City Council voted 3-0 on March 2 to place two separate referendum questions on the local ballot: one to allow Sunday sales of packaged alcoholic beverages and another to allow Sunday on-premises consumption.
Mayor Pro Tem Stephanie Nichelson introduced each resolution and said the measures were intended only to put the questions before voters. "The resolution was simply to put the issue on the ballot to be voted on," she said. Councilmember DJ Bennett moved each resolution; Councilmember Karissa Noland seconded. Both motions passed unanimously.
The council made no comment on how the city would implement changes if voters approve the measures; staff or subsequent meetings would address ordinance updates and enforcement details if the referendums pass.
Votes at a glance: the council also approved a resolution to request federal earmarks for water projects, awarded a paving contract, approved a real estate marketing contract for surplus property at 75 Richards Road, and approved movement of certain CDs; all recorded votes were 3-0. The council adjourned at 7:35 p.m.
