Volunteer group donates funds for downtown Christmas lights, announces Dec. 13 holiday event

WHIGHAM, Ga. — The Whigham Volunteer Civic Club told the City Council on Nov. 18 that recent fundraising events were successful and that the group donated money to fund replacement downtown Christmas lights and wreaths.
Jane Trulock, speaking for the WVCC, said the Grady Grown dinner went well though the final profit figures were not yet tallied, and that the turkey shoot provided enough turkeys for the event rounds. Trulock said the civic group presented a check to cover the Christmas lights that Utilities Director Josh Ausburn ordered to replace those downtown, and that several volunteers had met with Ausburn and Chad Gainous to prepare wreaths and lights.
Trulock announced that Christmas in Whigham is scheduled for Dec. 13 and that vendor spaces remain available for $20; she directed interested vendors to contact Baylei Ladner. The Council did not take formal action on the WVCC report; the donation was noted in the minutes.
