Mayor Pro Tem James Collins introduced David Midgordon of TNT Fireworks, who said TNT has obtained a state license and insurance and would like to place a temporary fireworks stand in the Ingles parking lot from June 20 through July 4, 2025.
City Attorney John D. Newberry noted the location may not comply with the city’s design guidelines, and Main Street Director Ashley Roberson said Midgordon must go through planning and zoning and, if required, meet with the Design Review Committee. Collins said the planning-and-zoning process could be scheduled quickly if review of the application indicates a Design Review Committee meeting is necessary.
No permit or final approval was granted at the May 19 meeting; Mr. Midgordon was directed to pursue planning and zoning review and, if applicable, a Design Review Committee meeting.
