Inspection finds fire-escape concerns at 890 Boston Turnpike; Candle Collaborative cleared with permits

Deputy Fire Marshal Bill Call told the Bolton Fire Commission April 24 that inspections performed since the last meeting included six visits to 890 Boston Turnpike, a new-business inspection for Candle Collaborative at 299 Boston Turnpike, three burn permits and inspections, Georgina’s annual inspection and inspections of three Brandy Street Apartments.
Bill Call said all smoke detectors were working at 890 Boston Turnpike but a fire escape did not pass inspection; Commissioner Robert Langton questioned whether the fire escape is safe for volunteer firefighters. The deputy marshal and the minutes indicate the building remains noncompliant in the marshal’s view.
Separately, the commission recorded that Candle Collaborative, occupying the former Thai restaurant at 299 Boston Turnpike, had an inspection and permits issued. The minutes list follow-up designations for burning-official responsibilities: Bill Call will be listed first as the town’s Burning Official and Lance Dimock as the backup.
No formal enforcement action beyond inspections and documentation of noncompliance was recorded in the minutes.
