The Maple Valley City Council on Oct. 21 reviewed proposed updates to the city’s Comprehensive Plan code and asked staff to clarify housing-related definitions and zoning language.
Consultant Claire Hoffman of Parametix outlined changes to the code, saying the draft adds definitions to the plan. Consultant Casey Bradfield of BERK reviewed the STEP Housing Code during the study-item presentation. Councilmembers requested that staff "clean up the PRO & Dwelling language" in the Comprehensive Plan and follow up with the city attorney on terms related to CB zoning, according to the meeting minutes.
The council approved the meeting agenda earlier in the session; Councilmember Victoria Schroff moved to approve and Councilmember Didem Pierson seconded the motion, which carried 6-0. Deputy Mayor Dana Parnello called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.; Mayor Sean P. Kelly arrived at 6:32 p.m.
During the council-comments portion of the meeting, Mayor Kelly noted that many THS homecoming photos from Oct. 19 were taken at Lake Wilderness Park and the Arboretum and thanked first responders who responded to incidents that day. Councilmember Victoria Schroff thanked staff and the Planning Commission for their work on the Comprehensive Plan.
The council announced its next regular business meeting for Oct. 28, 2024, at 6:30 p.m. at Lake Wilderness Lodge; Zoom information will be provided. The meeting adjourned at 8:47 p.m.
