Thomaston council swears in three officials; residents honored for lifesaving actions

Mayor John David "J.D." Stallings opened the Thomaston Mayor and City Council meeting at 7:00 p.m. on Jan. 6, 2026 and asked Councilmember Jerry Adams to lead the invocation and the Pledge of Allegiance.
City Attorney Johnnie Caldwell administered the oaths of office to Councilmember Jerry Adams, Mayor Pro Tem Troy Chaney and Councilmember Don Greathouse, who were sworn in for the 2026–2030 term. The council then approved meeting minutes and adopted the agenda by unanimous vote.
Fire Chief Jeremy Walker recognized Lakeitha Thompson and Kathleen Thompson for actions taken on Dec. 13, 2025 during a residential fire; the Thomastons received a plaque and a certificate respectively.
