Hamilton council hears department reports; Sweet Bay water tower to be taken offline for maintenance

City of Hamilton officials on March 10 received routine departmental reports and community announcements.

Fire Chief Oliver reported 17 calls since the last meeting, including six false alarms, five medical calls, two canceled en route and three large brush fires (one extinguished on site); he also noted an ISO inspection scheduled for April 29. The street crew completed a pole barn slab and will replace several wooden signs in Hamilton village; McMillian Road remains closed. Police Chief Weiss said he will compile data over the next month or two to outline departmental plans and goals, attended a meeting about school-zone camera options, and noted that Officer Nolin received a "First Friday Hero Award"; the department also acquired a vehicle from Mike Fitzpatrick Ford.

Water/sewer staff member Ben reported and confirmed two leaks (outside the wastewater plant and at Heritage Villas) had been repaired. The Sweet Bay Water Tower requires maintenance and will be out of service for about three to four weeks; the city will place a notice on water bills when the work schedule is set. Mr. Wade said cleaning and maintenance of the water towers are part of the existing agreement; City Hall upgrades are ongoing and the 2024 audit work began Friday. Officials also announced Georgia Cities Week (April 20–26, 2025) with a business luncheon on April 23, a blood drive on April 24, and the Affair on the Square on April 26. The minutes list event dates and invite non-profits and vendors.
