Hamilton council unanimously adopts revised city charter; sends it to state for approval

The packet notes 33 provisions in the revision and lists Brandy Robertson as the sponsor. Upon state approval, the charter will change Rhett Wade’s title from his current role to City Manager.
Council members said the city followed the required public-notice steps, including two public hearings, before the vote. The council’s unanimous vote means the adoption is the council’s formal action to forward the charter to state authorities for whatever additional review or ratification the state requires.
The council did not specify an implementation date pending the state’s response; the council minutes record that the charter will be turned in to the State for approval and that administrative title changes will follow that approval. The council did not record any dissenting comments during the motion or vote.
The council meeting proceeded to other business after the charter vote, including vehicle budget amendments and departmental reports.
