William Blake McMillan, a contractor for Coach's Corner, asked the Planning & Zoning Commission for permission to add a 44-by-36-foot open post frame canopy behind the restaurant on E. Victory Drive. McMillan said the canopy is intended to provide shade and rain protection for outdoor events, will have a metal roof and iron trusses, and will reach 16 feet, 6 inches at its highest point.
Commissioner Len Hiers moved to approve the structure at the stated height; Commissioner John Mattingly seconded. The motion passed unanimously. No conditions beyond compliance with applicable code were recorded in the meeting minutes.
Next steps: Applicant may move forward with permitting and building permit applications consistent with town code and any plan reviews required by staff.
