After discussion, Supervisor John Kurtz moved to approve the minor plat by resolution; the board adopted Resolution 26-69 by roll call (Vogel–Aye, Kurtz–Aye, Wieland–Aye).
The board also approved Resolution 26-70 to begin Zoning Ordinance Amendment No. 26-C-10. The amendment would rezone roughly 0.374 acres in Washington Township (Section 10) from A-1 Agricultural to C Commercial. The board set a public hearing on the amendment for 9:15 a.m. on July 6, 2026, in the Supervisors’ Chambers at the Buchanan County Courthouse in Independence. The resolution includes a legal description of the parcel to be rezoned.
The minor plat approval and the initiation of the rezoning process are procedural steps in the county’s land-use review; interested parties may attend the July 6 public hearing to comment before any final zoning decision is adopted.
