Commission sends code amendment to council and elects officers at annual meeting

The New Albany Planning Commission recommended that city council adopt revisions to Chapter 11‑59 of the codified ordinance to provide clearer standards for final plat and final development plan procedures (staff split the language into sections a and b and cleaned up redline text). Staff said the revision was prompted by a prior extension request and peer research of surrounding communities.
The commission voted to place the revised split version in the record and unanimously recommended the code update to city council. Members asked staff to include both the original and the split versions in the record to avoid future confusion about metadata/versioning.
At the annual organizational portion of the meeting, commissioners elected Neil Kirby as chair and David Wallace as vice chair; Bruce Larson was elected secretary and Sarah was appointed as the commission’s BZA liaison. The commission also retained its existing meeting schedule.
These administrative actions conclude the commission’s March 16 agenda; the commission adjourned after routine business.
