Franklin Fire & EMS honored with American Heart Association Mission: Lifeline EMS award

At its Aug. 6 meeting, the Franklin City Council and Fire Chief Jonathan Westendorf received the American Heart Association's 2018 Mission: Lifeline EMS Performance Achievement Award for the city's STEMI care; three medics received certificates and pins.
At its Aug. 6 meeting, the Franklin City Council recognized the City of Franklin Fire & EMS Division for receiving the American Heart Association’s 2018 Mission: Lifeline EMS Performance Achievement Award.
Fire Chief Jonathan Westendorf introduced Alex Koon of the American Heart Association, who said the department is one of 48 agencies in Ohio to earn the award and that the department “scored 75% or higher on certain criteria,” a benchmark for the program. Chief Westendorf thanked the association and praised his staff for “responding quickly, professionally and efficiently.”
Dr. Gebhart noted the award reflects a partnership with the hospital (Atrium) to speed care for patients with STEMI, the heart-attack condition targeted by the program. Chief Westendorf presented certificates and pins to Lt. Kyle Lovelace, FF/Medic Scot Rauh and FF/EMT Ray Seehousen at the meeting.
Mayor Todd Hall and council members congratulated the Fire & EMS team for the recognition. No policy action resulted from the presentation; the award and the officers’ recognition were ceremonial.
