Fort Recovery names Aaron Rengers village administrator effective Jan. 1, 2026

The Village of Fort Recovery Council voted Dec. 15 to appoint Aaron Rengers as Village Administrator effective Jan. 1, 2026. The motion to accept the appointment was made by Al Post, seconded by Luke Knapke, and passed with unanimous approval.
Earlier in the meeting council conducted a group question-and-answer session with four candidates to fill two open council seats; council then entered executive session under Ohio Rev. Code 121.22(G)(1) to discuss the appointments. The mayor said appointments will be announced publicly at the Jan. 5 meeting, when new appointees will be sworn in and take their seats.
Council also used the meeting to acknowledge departures and long service. Cliff Wendel—who said he has served on council for 12 years—thanked colleagues and singled out Village Administrator Randy Diller for long-term service, saying Diller "has been impartial and by far has the best interest of the community." Following executive session, council approved the Psi Iota Sorority's request to close a section of N. Wayne Street for a Brick Street Market on April 25, 2026, and approved invoices and interdepartmental payments before adjourning at 8:52 p.m.
