Fort Recovery approves radar trailer purchase, park grant application moves forward

Village officials reported several community-safety and recreation updates at the Nov. 17 council meeting.
The Police Chief said community-relations funds purchased promotional pens and that the village ordered a new Speed Alert 24X60 radar speed trailer supported by the WoW committee; the minutes record the trailer cost as $17,100 and an expected delivery of about four weeks. Jared Laux said decals (including a required WoW emblem) will be added and proposed transferring the village’s half-interest in an older shared trailer to St. Henry so Fort Recovery could be released from maintenance, repair and insurance responsibilities; council raised no objection.
Aaron Rengers said Park Board member Jenn submitted another grant application for the pool; staff expect to hear about the grant in January and a final award decision by March if successful. Diller said WoW will assist the Swayer batting-cage project, which is in final design and scheduled for equipment installation next summer.
Diller also reported the village sold the 2015 cruiser for $2,724, volunteers Tom and Tess Kaup led the downtown tree-lighting and installation of historical plaques (25 of 39 installed so far), and the annual FR Radio Christmas Gala is scheduled Dec. 10 at the Cooper Pavilion. The minutes note that applications are available for two open council seats.
No formal council action was recorded to obligate additional funds for these community items at the Nov. 17 meeting; the radar trailer purchase was discussed and the transfer of interest in the old trailer to St. Henry was offered with no council objection recorded in the minutes.
