The Village of Fort Recovery Council on Oct. 6 adopted an emergency ordinance to add two positions in the fiscal/utility office and approved an amendment to current appropriations.
On a roll-call vote, council adopted ORD 2025-12, which adds a Fiscal Officer Trainee position and an Assistant Fiscal Officer/Utility Clerk and establishes classifications and a pay schedule for both jobs. Scott Pearson moved to suspend the rules; Greg Schmitz seconded; the roll-call vote was unanimous. Al Post moved to pass the ordinance; Schmitz seconded; the roll-call vote was unanimous.
Council also approved RES 2025-25 to amend appropriations after a motion to suspend the rules and a second; the motion to pass the resolution carried unanimously.
Roberta Staugler, speaking about the audit schedule, said the auditor has returned from vacation and expects the audit report to be completed in about two weeks. The council discussed timing for any related real-estate or levy actions and agreed to observe statutory waiting periods for annexation-related legislation.
What happens next: the new positions and pay classifications take effect as adopted under the emergency ordinance; staff will integrate the changes into payroll classification schedules and return with any required administrative details at a future meeting.
