Dave Dirksen, Chief Education Officer for the Coconino County Accommodation School District, told the governing board at a May 8, 2025 public hearing that the district files an Instructional Time Model each year with the Arizona Department of Education and that the filing covers two components: a Remote Learning Model and a Project-Based Learning Model.
Dirksen said the two components are distinct parts of how the district documents instructional time and programming for the state. President Cheryl Mango-Paget asked whether internships and externships fit into the PBL model; Dirksen said historically they have been separated and do not need to be included in the ITM.
Mr. Hauer added that tracking forms were updated during the last year and that the work program and internships now use the same form, which should help documentation and recordkeeping. There was no public comment during the ITM discussion.
