Middletown council authorizes paving quotes, adopts sidewalk parking ban, approves EMS rental and immediate $12,500 payment

At its March 20 meeting, the Middletown Town Council approved a set of operational and financial actions. Council authorized the Utilities Superintendent to collect quotes for paving several spot areas in town, a project the superintendent estimated would cost approximately $20,000; Clerk-Treasurer Drew Cooper reported the town could fund the work and still pursue INDOT matching grants to pave 8th Street and 10th Street.
The council adopted Ordinance No. 2018-01, prohibiting parking of motor vehicles on sidewalks or curbs. Council member Dave Wagner moved to approve the ordinance on its third reading by name and number only; Gary Kendall seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
The council also authorized a rental agreement with the Middletown Fall Creek Township EMS Foundation for the new 2017 ambulance at $12,500 per year, to be paid from the LIT EMS Public Safety Fund; the contract specifies that all funds in the LIT EMS Public Safety Fund at the end of each September will be given to the EMS Foundation in an additional payment of rent. Separately, the council approved an immediate payment of $12,500 from the LIT EMS Public Safety Fund to the EMS Foundation. All motions passed unanimously.
Steve Holmes volunteered to serve as Middletown's representative on the Henry County Office of Emergency Management Committee. With no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
