POLYTECH board clears personnel slate, hears Adult Education and high-school updates

The POLYTECH School District Board of Education on Sept. 9 approved a range of personnel actions and heard reports on high school and adult-education activity.
Personnel actions approved included hires for child nutrition workers, custodial staff, adult education instructors, student workers, coaches and substitutes; the Board also approved a transfer for Tameka Taylor-Moorehead from a 5-hour part-time child nutrition worker position to a 6-hour full-time child nutrition position, accepted the termination and transition to long-term disability for Employee "A2026" (effective July 28, 2025), and approved an 11% responsibility-index salary adjustment for Employee "B2026" effective the first pay of Fiscal Year 2026. Roll-call votes recorded in the minutes for several personnel items show unanimous approval by the five board members (Mr. Duane Hammond, Dr. Reginald Chandler, Senator Nancy Cook, Mrs. Carolyn Forbes and Mrs. Sandy Walls).
Dr. LaTonya Pierce presented the list of part-time hires for Adult Education and other programs beginning Sept. 10 and confirmed new appointments across instruction and support roles. Dr. Elizabeth Jones reported that 314 adults have enrolled in fall-semester ESL classes at multiple sites and described outreach planned at Duck Creek Regional Library and the Harrington Library; Adult Education staff will also participate at the Milford Riverwalk Festival in September.
High school updates reported by Principal Mr. Fisher included BLT kickoff, new staff hires and orientation activities, and upcoming events including Parent Night (Sept. 10), an evacuation drill (Sept. 12), and homecoming events in early October. Principal Fisher introduced senior student Sarina Forston, who described meeting with Sen. Coons and received a recommendation letter.
The Board also approved overnight travel requests (SkillsUSA and AASA events) as presented. Board members adjourned the meeting at 7:19 p.m.
