Lake Park hears GEFA proposal: $1.7 million water loan with 50% forgiveness

City Clerk Lisa Johnson told the Lake Park City Council on April 7 that the GEFA (Georgia Environmental Finance Authority) Water Improvement Project is in the design phase and that the City's application received an offer from GEFA: a $1.7 million loan with 50% forgiveness and 0% interest for 20 years.
Johnson said the project is still in design; the council received the informational report as part of administration updates. No formal vote on accepting GEFA terms occurred during the meeting. Johnson also noted the FY25 audit is underway and that letters were sent regarding annexation and intergovernmental discussions on fire protection services.
Council members did not take formal action on the GEFA proposal at this meeting. City staff will provide further design and financing details for future council consideration and any necessary local approvals.
The SGRC will facilitate a public meeting to receive resident input on the Comprehensive Plan update; the GLPC is scheduled to hear related annexation matters on April 30.
