Garland board approves Keno at Corner Bar, two new firefighters and mulch for park

The Village of Garland Board on March 3 approved a local business permit for Keno, added two volunteers to the fire department and authorized park maintenance purchases.

The Board also approved two applicants for the fire department. The Fire Department presented Nick Glass and Jake Fry as potential new members; Trustee Patsch moved to approve them, Trustee Strauss seconded and the motion carried.
On park maintenance, Trustee Patsch and Regnier presented the need to purchase new mulch for the playground and batting cage. Regnier provided the cost per yard and a loading fee; Trustee Strauss moved and Trustee Standley seconded approval of the purchase, and the motion carried. Regnier later reported the concession stand addition is complete and requested guidance on replacing roughly 11 bleacher seat boards; trustees agreed treated wood should be used.
The minutes also record that Trustee Standley will attend a Wastewater Convention in Kearney next week and disclosed the cost of his classes; the Board agreed to cover that expense. The minutes do not supply a roll-call vote tally for that reimbursement decision.
