At the June 9 meeting Sherrie Thompson reported that New Horizons Crisis Center received $137,640.53 in homeless shelter mitigation funding and described how the money was used.
Thompson said the funds supported emergency housing for victims of sexual assault, domestic violence and homelessness and paid for hotel placements for 245 individuals, amounting to 5,059 shelter nights. Recipients also received case management services intended to address barriers to permanent housing, help clients increase self‑sufficiency and connect them with community resources. Thompson said support groups aided clients in pursuing long‑term housing stability. She added that the same services will continue through the remainder of the fiscal year and a grant application for the coming year has been submitted.
Thompson described collaboration among agencies as strong and said expenditures have been used consistent with the program’s purpose.
