Forks council adopts 2025–2045 Comprehensive Plan Update

The City of Forks City Council adopted the 2025–2045 Comprehensive Plan Update (Ordinance No. 689) during its June 8, 2026 regular meeting. Councilmember Gingell moved to adopt the Update, Councilmember Soha seconded the motion, and the motion carried.
Mayor James Tim Fletcher introduced the Update and Tom Beckwith, FAICP, of Beckwith Consulting Group, explained formatting and content changes in the draft and said the formatting would be cleaned in the final version prepared after adoption. Councilmember Pearson asked for more time to review the Update and moved to postpone action until the next regular meeting; there was no second and the motion died. Interim Attorney Archer explained legal implications of postponement.
Beckwith told the Council that a further delay could affect the City’s application for a Recreational and Conservation Office (RCO) grant for playground improvements at Tillicum Park, an application tied to having an adopted comprehensive plan. After discussion, Gingell moved to adopt Ordinance No. 689, Soha seconded, and the ordinance was adopted.
The Council’s adoption completes the procedural step needed for the City to finalize the document; staff and the consultant indicated the drafting team will produce a cleaned, final version for public records and implementation. No public commenters spoke during the hearing on the Update.
