The Truman City Council on Sept. 16 adopted Resolution 2024-33 approving a proposed tax levy payable in 2025 of $680,101, representing a proposed 15% increase from the current levy. The council set the Truth in Taxation hearing for Dec. 2, 2024, at 6:00 p.m., when taxpayers may comment on the final levy.
During budget discussion council members identified priorities to include in the 2025 budget: adding funds to the squad car reserve, implementing a roof inspection and repair program, and replacing a snow truck and a lawn mower. The council indicated it will continue budget work before adopting a final levy in December.
The motion to adopt the proposed levy (Resolution 2024-33) passed unanimously. Council also approved the August 2024 financial statements at the meeting.
Next steps: The council will hold the Truth in Taxation hearing on Dec. 2 and revisit the budget and final levy before year-end.
