The Hackberry Elementary School District #3 Governing Board approved multiple personnel and policy actions at its July 8, 2025 meeting, including a $5,000 stipend for Debbie Lund, a part-time custodian hire, revisions to personnel handbooks, and adoption of emergency- and media-response plans.
The board approved a $5,000 stipend for Debbie Lund as Lead Teacher/Mentor Teacher (motion by Tammy Herrera, seconded by Pam Adams; Passed 5–0) and approved hiring Magdelena Baker as a part-time custodian for SY25–26 (motion by Tammy Herrera, seconded by Leanne Donason; Passed 5–0). The Administration Evaluation Tool for SY25–26 was approved (motion by Pam Adams; Passed 5–0). The board also approved revisions to the Student and Parent Handbook and the Employee Handbook for SY25–26.
On safety and communications, the board approved a Cyber Incident Plan and Media Response Plan and approved the Emergency Operations Plan for SY25–26. Board members discussed a large batch of advisory policies by number and scheduled a special meeting for July 14, 2025 at 9:00 AM to continue review and approval of those policies.
Why it matters: The stipend and hire affect staffing and classroom supports; handbooks and emergency plans set operational expectations and response protocols for the upcoming year.
What to watch next: The special meeting July 14 will consider a large policy package (Advisory Policies 716; 783–786; 808; 819–862; 863–865; 876–905) that could alter board governance and operational procedures.
