Pacific council appoints Andrew Williamson as public works director; adopts emergency renewal and consent items

Following an executive session on qualifications of an applicant convened under RCW 42.30.110(1)(g), the City of Pacific City Council appointed Andrew Williamson as Public Works Director and approved several routine measures at its June 8, 2026 meeting.
Mayor Kave called an executive session at 6:48 p.m. to discuss the qualifications of an applicant for a public employee position; the session ran until 6:58 p.m. After the meeting reconvened, Council Member Helms moved to appoint Andrew Williamson as Public Works Director. The motion passed unanimously on roll call, 6–0 (Council Member Boles absent).
The appointment follows an earlier statement in the meeting by outgoing Public Works Director Rick Gehrke that he would be leaving the city and moving out of state.
The council also voted 6–0 to adopt AB26-043 (Resolution 2026-1050), renewing and extending the city's proclamation of emergency. In addition, the consent agenda was approved 6–0 and included claims and payroll approvals, minutes, and adoption of Resolution 2026-1046 to create the GIS Program Coordinator/Associate Planner position.
No amendments to these measures were recorded in the meeting minutes. The council scheduled other calendar items, including staff plans to bring the budget calendar in July and a proposed council retreat on July 25.
