Pacific council workshop forwards three items to June 22 meeting; member presses on Ellingson paving

Council President Kerry Garberding called the City of Pacific workshop to order at 7:13 p.m. on June 8, 2026. On council consensus the body agreed to forward three items to the June 22, 2026 meeting for formal consideration: AB26-039 (Resolution 2026-1047) creating a Capital Projects Manager position; AB26-040 (Resolution 2026-1048), the proposed 2027–2032 six-year Transportation Improvement Plan (TIP); and AB26-041 (Resolution 2026-1049), the 2026 Annual Consumer Confidence Report.
The consensus routing means council will consider the resolutions during its regular June 22 session rather than take final action at the workshop. City staff listed as present for the workshop included City Administrator George Martinez, Community Development Director Carl de Simas, Lieutenant Terry Carter, Public Works Director Rick Gehrke and City Clerk Laurie Cassell.
Public Works reported it had met with the City of Sumner about the ITS Stewart Road Corridor and a proposal to tie eight traffic lights at Lakehaven Hill together; the workshop noted the report but took no formal action on the project at this meeting.
Council Member Petersen asked when contractors will begin work on the Ellingson project and requested that Ezee Fiber be notified to complete their pavement work before the Ellingson overlay begins. The minutes record the request but do not specify contractor start dates or a scheduling response from staff.
Mayor Kave notified the council that he will not attend the June 22 meeting. Council President Kerry Garberding adjourned the workshop at 8:12 p.m.
