Bolton Fire Commission hears 74 calls, discusses parking lines and inspection copies

The Bolton Fire Commission met Monday at the Bolton Fire House and heard that the Bolton Volunteer Fire Department responded to 74 calls since the last meeting, Fire Chief Bruce Dixon reported. The chief told commissioners the incidents included three motorcycle accidents and that two victims required Life Star airlifts.
Chief Dixon also said the department held a farewell for longtime staff member Joyce Stille and has hired a new secretary who has already begun work. The commission recorded that apparatus R134 has a gauge that is not working and will require attention.
Chairman John Morianos and Chief Dixon reported that they and Peter Morra attended a Tolland County Mutual Aid Fire Service meeting on Sept. 18, 2019 and briefed the commission on that attendance. The minutes list no formal Fire Marshal report; Fire Marshal James Rupert did not attend the Sept. 23 meeting.
In new business, commissioners discussed painting parking lines in front of the firehouse to facilitate truck movement and parking. Chief Dixon said he would speak with John from the Parks Department about striping. Separately, the commission held a discussion about sending a letter to Fire Marshal James Rupert asking him to bring hard copies of inspection reports to future meetings; the minutes record discussion but do not show a formal vote or directive to send the letter.
Procedural business included a motion to approve the July 22, 2019 minutes, recorded as (JR/RL) and adopted unanimously, and a motion to adjourn at 8:20 p.m., recorded as (JP/RL) and adopted unanimously. The commission scheduled its next meeting for Monday, Oct. 28, 2019.
