Mary Austin of engineering firm Cripe presented an INDOT commitment letter for the town to apply for the 2026 County Community Match Grant (CCMG) on Oct. 21. The proposal covers South Gospel Street Phase II (Cherry Street to Oak Street) and Phase III (bridge to Cherry Street) with estimated construction costs of $495,995.80 and $453,023.00, respectively, for a combined estimated cost of $949,018.80.
Austin told the council the town would be responsible for a 20% local match if the grant is awarded; that match is estimated at $189,803.76. Council moved to approve submitting the CCMG application and the motion passed 5–0.
The minutes do not record funding source specifics for the town match or any schedule for design or construction pending award; staff follow-up will be needed to identify the budget line and timeline should the grant be secured.
