Smith outlined the program’s structure, saying the Facade Grant Design Committee, the Historic Preservation Commission and the Downtown Development Authority share roles in administering grants and determining eligible geography for façade improvements. He noted a project from the Upson Historical Society at the Pettigrew‑White‑Stamps house is anticipated in June.
The request for commissioner assistance follows the withdrawal of a certificate‑of‑appropriateness item for 211 S. Center Street; Smith said the applicant will present later and requested Item F be updated to a Facade Grant discussion. Commissioners did not object to prioritizing outreach to structures within the historic district.
The commission did not set dates or funding amounts during the meeting; Smith asked members to identify candidate properties and directed staff to continue coordinating with the Facade Grant Design Committee and the Downtown Development Authority on outreach and eligibility.
