Rhetta Sutton of the WB Public Library told the council the library will celebrate its fifth birthday on Sept. 20, 2025, from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., with storytime, games and family activities. Sutton recommended installing a book box in the flower bed at City Hall rather than near the marquee.
During Public Comments Sutton asked whether Woodbine has a historical preservation society; council members and staff said the city does not. She also asked whether Theater Park could be renamed Kelley Park. The minutes record the request but do not show any action, referral or decision by the council on the renaming proposal.
The council also received routine departmental updates: City Marshall Ernest Hamilton, City Clerk Amelia Swords and City Administrator Samantha Young provided brief reports on their respective areas; the minutes list no figures or follow-up assignments tied to those updates.
Earlier in the meeting Mayor Kizzi Knight issued proclamations designating Aug. 5, 2025 as National Night Out in Woodbine and Aug. 3–9, 2025 as National Health Center Week.
The meeting adjourned at 8:58 p.m.
