Board rejects lot-line plan, grants Dollar General extension and hears Act 537 and municipal building updates

Township Engineer Jill Smith updated supervisors on multiple land-use and infrastructure items at the Aug. 13 meeting.
The board voted to reject the 330 W. Weis Street lot-line adjustment plan after Hanover Engineering determined it did not comply with the township’s Subdivision and Land Development and Zoning ordinances. The motion to reject was made by Supervisor Mike Sacks and seconded by Vice Chair Mark Hilbert; the minutes record the motion passed.
The board granted a time extension for PTV 1373, LLC (Dollar General Mertztown) under Section 508(3) of the Pennsylvania Municipalities Planning Code to Nov. 5, 2024, at the applicant’s request.
Smith said work continues on the township’s Act 537 sewage planning, with additional site evaluations and task activities underway; she will provide further updates at the next meeting. She also presented survey work and a concept layout for an addition to the municipal maintenance building for board review.
Smith briefed supervisors on a Walker Road water issue and said she prepared a plan that Roadmaster Scott Miller will implement. The state/agency coordination on State Street water issues with PennDOT, Dollar General and Extra Storage remains pending.
