Solicitor Beth Kohl brought a draft Meeting Recording Policy to the Longswamp Township Board on Aug. 13 that would permit the township to video record Board of Supervisors meetings and make those recordings available online until formal meeting minutes are posted.
Kohl said the policy’s focus is to record only Board of Supervisors meetings and to provide recordings for residents who cannot attend in person. The draft limits online availability to the period before the meeting minutes are formally approved and posted.
During discussion, the board proposed additions and deletions to the draft. Supervisor Mike Sacks stated he does not support recording board meetings; Supervisors Don Hickman and Mark Hilbert signaled support for recording as a transparency measure. The solicitor will incorporate agreed edits for a future meeting.
