Silver Creek Township votes to start enforcement process at 3864 150th St NW

The Silver Creek Township board voted unanimously on Aug. 6 to start the enforcement process against the property at 3864 150th St NW. Vice Chairman Mike Helman moved that the township issue a notice outlining violations and require the owner to report back at the Sept. 3, 2024 meeting; Supervisor Ryan Nelson seconded the motion and it carried 4-0.
Property owner John Haack appeared and described steps he intends to take, including repairing the roof and garage doors and cleaning out the garage. Vice Chairman Mike Helman provided a copy of the county ordinance that the owner must follow and said the township expects the property to be returned to compliance comparable to its condition in 2014, warning that nothing else should be brought to the site.
Why it matters: The board cited a repeat noncompliance history (action in 2013) and put the owner on notice to avoid escalation to county enforcement. The motion requires Haack to provide an update at the board’s Sept. 3 meeting.
What’s next: The owner is expected to show progress at the Sept. 3 meeting; the board will consider further steps if the property is not brought into compliance.
