Shorewood planning director announces retirement; council thanks Darling

Planning Director Darling announced her retirement during the Shorewood City Council meeting on Jan. 27, and councilmembers and staff publicly thanked her for her years of service.
City Clerk/HR Director Sandie Thone said it "had been really nice working with Planning Director Darling for the last eight years," and City Administrator Nevinski praised Darling’s talent and capabilities. Darling told the council staff is monitoring pending state legislation on the "missing middle" and possible changes that could move subdivision approvals to an administrative process.
Councilmembers Gorham, Maddy, Sanschagrin and DiGruttolo each expressed appreciation for Darling’s work mentoring commissioners and handling complex planning and zoning questions. The council noted the Planning Director position has been posted and recruitment will proceed.
