The Shorewood City Council voted Jan. 27 to renew a service agreement with Davey Resource Group for forestry consulting, according to meeting minutes.
Public Works Director Morreim reviewed the renewal and clarified the agreement covers consulting services only, not tree removal. Morreim said Davey had been the city's consultant in this area for ‘‘at least a decade’’ and that the agreement cost is usually about $10,000 a year. Councilmember Sanschagrin asked whether the city should consider other providers; Morreim said Davey’s familiarity with the area and residents was a significant factor and noted staff is considering a broader vegetation management plan that would build on last year’s draft invasive species plan.
Sanschagrin also pointed out the last urban forest inventory was performed in 2017; Morreim said staff expects to move forward with additional inventory and planning work in 2025. After the brief discussion, Sanschagrin moved and Councilmember Gorham seconded approval of the renewal; the minutes record the motion passed.
